NetSend

Description

If you've never used the "NET SEND" command, it's very simple. You need to be on a Windows XP (2000 might work, i dunno) machine on a network. Open the Start menu and click "Run". Type in "net send {recipient} {message}" with "{recipient}" being replaced by the name or IP number of the recipient machine and "{message}" being replaced by whatever you want to send them. Once you press enter, the message will pop up on the recipient's machine (unless they have turned the messenging service off).

However, having to type all that "net send {recipient}" junk every time can be tiresome, and being the lazy guy that I am, I threw together a quick GUI to the command. This program is not a major project, but it's a little utility that allows you to send messages easily from a graphical interface. You can turn the messaging service on and off from within the program and send multiple messages at one time (great for flooding a machine w/ messages!). :-)

Current EXE Version #: 1.0.0

Target Platforms: WinXP (has been tested only under WinXP)

Features

  • Graphical interface
  • Stores recipients in a drop-down box for quick retrieval

No installation here...just click the link below. You can either just run it right away or you could save it to disk first...either way works fine.

Visual Basic icon  NOTE: This project was written in VB 6 and may require one or more extra files to work. Unfortunately, I don't have VB 6 at home (I wrote this app at the local college) and so I don't know all the runtimes and don't have the time to go get them. If this program doesn't work for you...well...too bad. :-)
