Colorado Symposium Pictures

First of all, a picture or two from the science fair in Richmond:

That was me at my display. My project concerned some computer software that parsed mathematical expressions and evaluated them. The science fair was pretty big. Here's a picture from a balcony overhead that shows some of the other projects. I've drawn in a red arrow pointing to mine:

I can't remember exactly how many projects there were in the Computer Science category, but it was somewhere around 12-16. I won an honorable mention for the category. This is the awards ceremony:

Okie dokie, now to the pictures from the Symposium in Colorado Springs. Most events were at the Sheraton hotel where everybody stayed (around 250 students from around the country along with their chaperones). Unfortunately, I don't have any good pictures of the Sheraton or my presentation, but here are some pictures from the Air Force Academy (where we took some tours one day of the symposium):

I took the above photo; the couple are some friends I met at the symposium. But the guy in the middle of this next one is me:

Those interior pictures didn't come out too well. Lousy camera.

I also got to ride up Pike's Peak:

That was the train. The ride up was around an hour long.

Ah, here's my favorite photo. I had forgotten to bring a heavy coat along, so here I am in my windbreaker at the top of Pike's Peak on a day with a wind chill factor below zero:

That was fun. Actually, it wasn't too bad, as long as I only stayed outside of the visitor's center for a couple minutes at a time. And the view was magnificent, even if the weather was a bit overcast that day:
